BOC conducts 2nd NSW-TWG Meeting to tackle national single window implementation

MANILA — The Bureau of Customs, as the National Single Window-Technical Working Group (NSW-TWG) Chair, conducted the 2nd NSW-TWG Meeting on Friday through a virtual conference.

A total of 120 participants from 45 various Trade Related Government Agencies under the Office of the President, National Economic Development Authority, National Government Agencies and Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations attended the said coordination meeting.

The discussions included updating on the progress of activities relevant to the implementation of the NSW, particularly on the status of onboarding activities of four priority agencies namely: National Tobacco Administration (NTA), Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

These priority agencies are set to get onboard in the new NSW System called TRADENET in 2020.

During the meeting, Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Director-General Jeremiah Belgica was nominated as the NSW-TWG Vice Chair for Onboarding Matters, while BOC Management Information System and Technology Group (MISTG) Deputy Commissioner Allan Geronimo was nominated as the Vice Chair for Technical Matters.

Furthermore, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the ASEAN Policy Implementation (API) granted the technical assistance to the BOC for Electronic Exchange of ASEAN Customs Declaration Document (ACDD) in the ASEAN Single Window System. The BOC also received the TradeNet Certificate of Live Operation from the DOF TRADENET Project Management Office.

The NSW-TWG was created under Executive Order No. 482, s. 2005 also known as the NSW Task Force for Cargo Clearance.

The Bureau of Customs under the Department of Finance, together with the national government agencies and partners in trade facilitation, will remain committed in modernizing its services and enhancing trade facilitation to provide a more seamless and simplified solutions to all stakeholders concerned.(IA/FC/MTVN)
