MANILA – Tropical Depression Vicky continues to move westward and was last estimated at 130 km. west of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, bringing rains and strong winds in many parts of the country.
In its weather bulletin on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Vicky” was last spotted with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph, moving westward at 25 kph at 3 a.m.
In Luzon, tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) No. 1 was raised over the northern and central portions of Palawan (Araceli, Dumaran, Taytay, El Nido, San Vicente, Roxas, Puerto Princesa City, Aborlan, Narra, Quezon, and Sofronio Espanola), including the Calamian, Cuyo, Cagayancillo, and Kalayaan Islands.
In the Visayas, the same TCWS was raised over Negros Oriental, the central and southern portions of Negros Occidental (Bacolod City, La Castellana, Murcia, La Carlota City, Bago City, Pulupandan, Valladolid, Pontevedra, San Enrique, Moises Padilla, Hinigaran, Isabela, Binalbagan, Himamaylan City, Kabankalan City, Ilog, Candoni, Sipalay City, Hinoba-An, and Cauayan), Guimaras, the southern portion of Iloilo (Dumangas, Zarraga, New Lucena, Cabatuan, Maasin, Leganes, Santa Barbara, Pavia, Iloilo City, Oton, San Miguel, Alimodian, Leon, Tigbauan, Tubungan, Guimbal, Igbaras, Miagao, and San Joaquin), and the southern portion of Antique (Anini-Y, Tobias Fornier, Hamtic, Sibalom, San Jose, San Remigio, Patnongon, Belison, and Valderrama).
In Mindanao, TCWS No. 1 was also raised over the central portion of Zamboanga del Norte (Siayan, Manukan, Jose Dalman, Sindangan, Bacungan, Godod, Liloy, Salug, Tampilisan, Kalawit, Labason, Gutalac, Baliguian, Siocon, and Pres. Manuel A. Roxas) and the western portion of Zamboanga Sibugay (Tungawan, Roseller Lim, Titay, Ipil, Naga, and Kabasalan).
The PAGASA forecast rains with gusty winds over Central and Western Visayas, Palawan, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay brought by “Vicky”.
It also forecasts cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, the rest of Mimaropa, and the Zamboanga peninsula brought by the tail-end of a frontal system and “Vicky”.
The rest of Luzon, PAGASA said, will have cloudy skies with rains brought by the northeast monsoon.
The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, will get partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers brought by localized thunderstorms.
The temperature in Metro Manila will be about 23°C to 29°C; Legazpi City, 25°C to 27°C; Metro Cebu, 24°C to 27°C; Cagayan de Oro City, 23°C to 27°C; and Metro Davao, 23°C to 30°C. (PNA)
