MANILA — It’s still 17 months before the 2022 national and local elections but a group of former “leftist” political officers on Sunday already picked their “Mighty 8” which include two prominent showbiz personalities Angel Locsin and Vilma Santos-Recto for the Senate in 2022.

Both Locsin and Santos-Recto played the role of local super heroine “Darna” on the big screen and television series.

In its Facebook post, the Philippine Political Organizations Links, Inc. (PhilPOLinks) thru its electoral arm ARMAS (Alyansa para sa Repormang Makabansa at Alternatibong Serbisyo ng Bayan) on Sunday named its “Mighty 8” senatorial bets as popular actress-philantrophist Angel Locsin, television personalities Karen Davila and Pinky Webb, “Star for All Seasons” Deputy House Speaker Vilma Santos-Recto, former Vice President and now Makati Rep. Jejomar “Jojo” Binay, former Senators JV Ejercito and Bam Aquino, and Tuburan, Cebu Vice Mayor Aljun Diamante who is also the Executive Vice President of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP).

Earlier, the PhilPOLinks and ARMAS urged former military rebel leader and now Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Danny Delapuz Lim to run for Vice President.

They still have to come up with their presidential bet.

“The objective is to concentrate muna for VP. Maybe along the way negotiations will be undertaken to coalesce with a viable presidentiable but with the same political beliefs and principle,” PhilPOLinks president Rudy “Kid” Cañeda said when asked who would be Lim’s presidential runningmate.

Cañeda described Lim as a “true soldier, an officer and a gentleman, and an advocate of human rights.”

On their senatorial slate for 2022, Cañeda said their eight senatorial bets are well known for their integrity, independence and sincerity to serve the people.

“Sa Senado dapat pulido, sila ang ating mga idolo,” Cañeda quipped. (AI/MTVN)
