MANILA — The Department of Health has on Monday reported 1,721 new infections of the coronavirus disease and the country’s caseload rose to 461,505 although the number of survivors or recoveries is not too far behind.
The DOH said there were only 82 new recoveries but its overall tally is close behind at 429,207.
As such, active cases of the killer disease stay at 21,708 (4.7%) that is, distributed nationwide of Covid-19 patients who are still undergoing treatment or quarantine in different hospitals and isolation centers.
Fatalities, meantime, rose to 8,957 with the addition of 10 more deaths, lowest so far in the past five days.
Notwithstanding, that and the declining cases of Covid-19, the government still reminded everyone to strictly adhere to health protocols as much as possible especially with the coming of the Christmas day where family reunions and other form of gatherings are expected.
Highest number of cases
Once again, the City of Davao registered with the highest number of additional cases with 151, followed by Quezon City, 142; Rizal, 85; Laguna, 81; and Manila, 77.
Of the total recorded infections, 82.2% exhibit mild symptoms, 8.5% are asymptomatic, 5.9% are in critical, 3% are severe cases and 0.34% have moderate symptoms the health agency said.
Globally, Covid-19 infections already reached 77,220,903 including 1,700,598 fatalities. (AI/MTVN)
Number of recoveries is at 54,126,951 with active cases at 21,393,354 and with mild condition at 21,287,049 (99.5%) and in serious or critical at 106,305 (0.5%).
