DOH adds 1,196 new cases to COVID-19 tally as recoveries hit almost 430K

MANILA — The Department of Health announced on Wednesday that it has recorded 1,196 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

With the additional cases, the country now has a total of 464,004 COVID-19 cases.

The DOH also listed 564 more COVID-19 survivors, bringing the total recoveries to 429,972. However, the death toll rose to 9,048 with 27 new deaths.

There are 24,984 active cases, or 5.4 percent of the total number of infected individuals.

Quezon City again topped the list of daily number of cases with 123 more infections, followed by Rizal (84), Manila (74), Davao City (54), and Batangas (49).

The DOH also listed 564 more COVID-19 survivors, which pushed the total recoveries to 429,972. However, 27 new deaths were logged, raising the number of fatalities to 9,048.

After final validation, the department said seven cases previously reported as recoveries were reclassified as deaths, while seven duplicates were removed from the overall tally.

Worldwide, the number of COVID-19 cases is pegged at 78,420,089, with 1,725,199 death and 55,185,280 recoveries.

As of now, the active cases worldwide stand at 21,509,610, with 21,403,222 or 99.5 percent in mild condition and 106,388 or 0.5 percent in serious or critical condition.

The top five countries are USA (18,684,628) India (10,099,308), Brazil (7,320,020), Russia (2,933,753) and France (2,490,946).(FC/MTVN)
