TACLOBAN CITY – Authorities have collared two drug suspects and seized PHP216,500 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in the city’s downtown area on Tuesday night.
Arrested were alias “Tigbas”, 19, who has been on the city’s watch list, and “JR”, 25, residents of Cabalawan and Kapangian villages, respectively.
The entrapment operation was conducted by the city police station drug enforcement unit, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, according to a police report released Wednesday noon.
Confiscated from Tigbas were nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, with an estimated market value of PHP196,500.
On the other hand, JR was caught in possession of two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, with an estimated street worth of PHP20,000.
Authorities also confiscated drug bust money amounting to PHP21,500 and a motorcycle with a key and two helmets from the suspects.
The suspects are under the custody of the city police and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the police said. (PNA)
