PNP chief PGen Debold Sinas answers queries from the working media
MANILA — Amid the possible upsurge of COVID-19 pandemic in areas of public convergence, the holding of the nine-day Misa de Gallo in Catholic churches all over the country has been generally peaceful and orderly, the Philippine National Police reported.
PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas said security and public safety preparations of the police paid off as Catholic faithful came in droves to observe the traditional Simbang Gabi with no untoward incidents reported.
“We are grateful to the local government and church authorities for taking the lead in implementing public health guidelines and protocols during the misa de gallo”, Sinas said, adding that “we have been hopeful that our people would be quite conscious that the minimum health protocols were being followed well.”
Sinas, however, assured the public that the entire 221,000-strong police force remains on full alert status throughout the Holiday Season and onwards to the new year.
“This is our strong commitment to the public, that the police will continue to be visibly performing their duties to protect the community this holiday,” Sinas concluded. (AI/MTVN)
