MANILA—Kapuso actress Glaiza de Castro is currently in Ireland where she is spending the holiday season with the family of her boyfriend David Rainey.
On her Instagram account, she surprised her fans, friends and followers with an announcement that she is already engaged.
Her caption stated: “Who would have thought I’d say “yes” in freezing cold weather…it just felt right. (sparkling wine, Christmas tree, ring emojis.)”
She also included four photos in her post where she is showing her engagement ring.
Her post was flooded with congratulatory messages from friends in showbiz who were all thrilled to know about her engagement.

In February 2019, Glaiza met David’s family when she went on a vacation in England for David’s 30th birthday.
“Na-meet ko na ‘yung family niya nu’ng nag-celebrate ng birthday ‘yung twin niya sa England.
“May twin sister siya. It’s a big birthday. 30th birthday nila.
“Supposedly, isu-surprise ko siya. But since I was only given a limited time to be there, sinabi ko na eventually,” Glaiza narrated.
She added that she was warmly welcomed by David’s family and that they were happy to know that she was coming.
Early 2020, David visited Glaiza in the country where he was and was locked down during the enforced quarantine in Baler, Aurora.
He lived temporarily in Glaiza’s house in Aurora, where the Kapuso actress has a bed and breakfast business.
At that time, Glaiza was interviewed by “24 Oras” reporter na si Aubrey Carampel, Glaiza proudly said: “Parang mas lokal pa siya kaysa sa ‘kin. Namamalengke siya, naggo-grocery siya…”
According to her, David was able to adapt immediately to our Filipino way of life.
In another interview, Glaiza revealed that it was David who was persistent to meet her parents.
“Well, kasi siya yung nag-initiate na ma-meet yung parents ko. Sabi ko, ‘Talaga ba?,’” Glaiza expressed.
Glaiza added: “Dun mo makikita na, ‘Ay, itong tao na ito, walang itatago.’
“Kahit hindi marunong mag-Tagalog yung tao, nag-exert siya ng best niya to communicate sa family ko.”
It was then, Glaiza said, that she proved the sincerity of David’s love for her.
