MANILA — The country has on Sunday recorded below one thousand Covid-19 cases or just 883, its lowest single-day count in over five months the Department of Health said.
With the fresh cases, the country increased its accumulated Covid-19 total infections to 469,886.
However, the Health Department clarified that the latest number did not include the data from at least 15 testing laboratories which failed to submit on time it said.
On the same day, the DOH tallied a big number of survivors at 7,635, bringing the number of recoveries from the killer virus to 438,678.
It also recorded 42 new fatalities, increasing the death toll to 9,109.
Active cases are pegged at 22,099 or 4.7 percent of the total infected.
Globally, more than 79.85 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus and 1,752,116 have died.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
The United States leads with 18,691,340 cases and 330,311 deaths.
It was followed by India with 10,169,118 cases and 147,343 deaths; Brazil with 7,448,560 cases and 190,488 deaths; Russia with 3,021,964 cases and 54,226 deaths and France with 2,550,864 cases and 62,573 deaths. (AI/FC/MTVN)
