Paniqui, Tarlac – The mother and son who was brutally shot by a Paranaque cop on Sunday, December 21, 2020 was laid to rest at around 10 a.m. Sunday at the Garden of Angels Memorial Park in Barangay Salomague, Paniqui, Tarlac, less than two (2) kilometers from their residence.
The relatives of the slain Gregorio family bid their last goodbye after a week of vigil.
Sorrow and pain engulfed the whole family as they celebrated their Christmas without the two members of their family.
Justice has been the clamor of the public for the brutal cold-blooded shooting.
Meanwhile, Paniqui Police Chief Noniel Rombaoa stated that the PNP Internal Affairs Office has been working to speed up its investigation of the case. “Alam naman natin na kailangang dumaan sa proseso ang lahat kaya minamadali na ng mga imbestigador para sa loob ng tatlumpung araw ay magkaroon na ng resulta ang kaso at sya (Nuezca) ay madismiss na.”
The suspect in Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca is facing administrative case and was charged with double murder for killing Sonia and Anton Gregorio.
Nuezca is still receiving his salary and other government benefits as of this day.
His rights are protected by our law and presumed innocent until proven guilty.
“Kailangang matapos na agad ang kaso nya dahil pag tumatagal mas lalong nagiging kakawawa ang pamilya ng biktima. Sabi nga natin, “justice delayed is justice denied,” Rambaoa said.
“Merong 90 days ang Internal Affairs Service natin para maresolba ang kaso pero they are doing their best to complete their task in 30 days,” Rombaoa added.
The viral video of the shooting incident recorded by relatives of the Gregorio family is a strong evidence against Nuezca and it needs only to be corroborated by a witness.
“We have already coordinated with the family on the matter of the witness testifying in court and we are assured that we have their support,” he concluded. (AI/MTVN)
