DOH conducts swab tests to relatives of patient positive of Covid-19 variant in Cagayan

SOLANA, Cagayan – The Department of Health (DOH) has completed over the weekend the swab testing of the families and relatives of the Filipina from Hongkong who was confirmed to be positive with the new Covid -19 variant virus.
The Filipina is a resident of Solana, Cagayan and was confirmed to have the virus on January 4, 2021 after a swab test.

The DOH and the Regional and Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Units immediately conducted contact tracing and identifying all the people that patient has come in contact with in the past week.

According to Dr. Carlos Cortina III, Provincial Health Officer of Cagayan, all of the 10 individuals who were in close contact close were already given a swab test and are now in quarantine.

“They are now in quarantine and closely monitored by health authorities.”

“The DOH is currently examining the specimens taken from the patients and we are waiting for results,” she stated.

Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba believed that the Filipina acquired the virus in Hongkong.

“Malinaw naman na negative sya sa kanyang mga swab test bago sya pumunta ng ibang bansa at nag-positibo na lamang sa kanyang pagbalik sa ating bansa.”

“Napaka-halaga talaga ng ibayong pag-iingat at pagsunod sa health standards na itinalaga ng ating gobyerno,” Mamba emphasized. (AI/MTVN)
