Manila tourism, cultural dev’t plan presented to Yormi

MANILA — The Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila (DTCAM) has on Tuesday, 12 January 2020 presented to mayor Isko Moreno the city’s Tourism and Cultural Development Plan (MTCDP).

DTCAM Director Charlie Dungo said that MTCDP aims to develop and implement policies, programs, and project towards the preservation of arts and culture in the nation’s capital.

“The MTCDP reflects the collective aspirations of Manileños to revive and enrich the Capital City’s culture and heritage, and in process create a sustainable businesses and jobs,” Dir. Dungo said.

According to Dir. Dungo, MTCDP will feature the best of Manila through its eight priority programs, eight trails, and eight loops located in eight hubs.

“It combines culture and heritage conservation with innovations in tourism services such as tourist-oriented e-vehicles, digital tours, as well as mobile and web-based applications for booking, navigation and other services,” the tourism director said.

“It also features concrete strategies and measures to jumpstart the local tourism industry after Covid-19 phenomenon and enable it to become resilient to other pandemics and health-related emergencies,” he added.

Dir. Dungo said that DTCAM is planning to have its road show to present the MTCDP soon. (KIARA LAUREN IBANEZ/AI/MTVN)
