NCRPO chief, Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. led the random drug testing for all commanders and chiefs of different offices who attended the New Year’s Call held at its headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City on Thursday.
New Year’s Call is one of the traditions of the uniformed service that personifies the commitment of the subordinate to the stint of the leader. It is also an opportunity to highlight the laurels of each unit and office and be one of the best practices of the region to be emulated by others.
In a statement, Danao said random drug testing seeks to weed out drug-using police officers within their ranks.
A command conference was also held to further evaluate the performances of the officers and identify areas to be improved and to be fortified.
“Everyone was able to raise their concerns to allow and produce the best concepts, solutions and pondering towards resounding success. Likewise, units/offices who made fair good enough in their operational accomplishments were also given premium for a job well done,” Danao said.
He said he gave his guidance to his men that he will surely visit district offices, stations, and substations to recognize good deeds and accomplishments as well as to ensure that everyone is performing their mandated tasks.
“As leaders, do not tolerate your subordinates especially when it comes to drugs dahil kapag napatunayan na tinolerate nyo yan, at talagang may mali (because if it is found out that you tolerated these things and something went wrong), I will relieve you immediately. Let us serve the people with honesty, integrity, courage and compassion towards nation-building,” he said.
The five police districts under NCRPO are the Manila Police District, Quezon City Police District, Northern Police District, Southern Police District, and Eastern Police District. (PNA)
