CLARK, Pampanga – The Department of Transportation today announced a 72.2% completion of the Bicol International Airport (BIA).
The facility, once completed, will undoubtedly be considered as the most scenic international airport in the world because of the majestic Mayan volcano in its background.
According to Secretary Arthur Tugade, as of 13 January 2021, the Package 2A of the airport development project, which covers the construction of landside facilities and other buildings is 88.2% complete.
“The Package 2B, covering the construction of the PTB and runway extension, as well as the construction of the taxiway, drainage, and other site development works, is 49.5% complete,” he disclosed.

“The airport will serve about two (2), million passengers, yearly and will surely boost air traffic and tourist arrivals in the region.”
The Bicol International Airport will pave the way for the Albay province and the Bicol region to be transformed into an economic powerhouse, which will greatly benefit the Bicolano’s in the future.
The BIA project is under the Build! Build! Build! Infrastructure Program of the Duterte Administration.
The pre-feasibility study for BIA started way in 1996, and the Notice to Proceed was given in 2003. But the actual construction only started in December 2016. (AI/MTVN)
