MANILA — The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group finally captured the Philippines’ eighth (8th) most wanted carnapping suspect in Bulacan on Thursday.
PNP chief PGen Debold M Sinas said the arrest of Christian Aguas, 35, culminated three days of stakeout, operational research and case monitoring by operatives of Bulacan Provincial Highway Patrol Team (PHPT) that led them to several locations in Cavite, Pasay City and eventually to Bulacan where Aguas was pinned down in Brgy. Inaon, Pulilan, Bulacan.
Citing reports from HPG Director, Police Brigadier General Alexander Tagum, Sinas said Aguas’ elusiveness prompted Highway Patrol officials to include him among HPG’s Top 10 Most Wanted during a recent Order of Battle Validation Workshop.
“The long arms of the law continue to catch up with hardened criminals since there is no letup for cops to hunt them down,” said Sinas who commended the HPG’s campaign against carnappers and wanted criminals.
HPG records indicate that Aguas is accused in two separate criminal cases for carnapping and qualified theft before the sala of Hon. Grace V Ruiz, Presiding Judge of RTC-Br.22 of Malolos City, Bulacan with warrants of arrest issued to bring him to court.
In Criminal Case No. 865-M-2020 for Violation of Sec 3 of RA 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, Aguas was accused of carnapping a Toyota Hi-Ace GL with plate no. TOP-188 on July 5, 2019, in Brgy Tinejero, Pulilan, Bulacan.
Tagum said the suspect will be presented before the court for the issuance of a commitment order. (ARWEN PASCUA/AI/MTVN)
