DOH Region 2 starts aggressive mass testing in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO City, Cagayan – The Department of Health- Regional Office 2 (DOH-RO2) today started conducting mass testing in eight municipalities including Tuguegarao City due to the rapid increase of Covid-19 positive cases.

Selected areas for swab testing activities are Tuguegarao City and the municipalities of Baggao, Solana, Amulung, Alcala, Enrile, Iguig at Peñablanca.

According to DOH-RO2 Regional Director Rio L. Magpantay, these areas are prioritized because they have the highest recorded cases of Covid-19.

“We have scheduled the mass testing today at the Solana gymnasium in Solana with a target of 250 individuals. Tuguegarao City with a target of 200 individuals and we are conducting the test at the Provincial quarantine facility,” he disclosed.

“Also included in today is the town of Amulung with 400 target individuals and being conducted at the Alcala gymnasium.”

On Thursday, January 21 2021, the DOH testing team will be in Enrile with 45 target individuals, Iguig with 55, Penablanca – 355 to be conducted at the Penablanca Gymnasiun and Baggao with a target of 500 and will be conducted in San Jose, Baggao.

Tuguegarao City will have another round of mass testing on Friday, January 22, 2021 with a target of 1,100 individuals.

The free mass testing is being done to identify individuals who are possible carrier of the virus, including those who are symptomatic.

The activity is in coordination with the Provincial Health Office of Cagayan, City Health Office of Tuguegarao, members of the Bureau of Fire Protection, members of the Philippine National Police including the barangay health workers. (AI/MTVN)
