Comelec, DFA planong magsagawa ng mock online overseas voting

MANILA – Plano ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) at Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na magsagwa ng mock online overseas voting sa lahat ng international posts ng pamahalaan.

Ayon kay Department of Foreign Affairs-Overseas Voting Secretariat acting vice chairman Edgardo Castro, balak nilang gawin ito bago matapos ang Enero o sa unang bahagi ng Pebrero.

“Depending on the results of that experiment, we would be in a better position to assess the existing technologies,” wika ni Castro.

“We’re planning to do it in all our posts since it’s a mock election… That will be our way of testing realistically on where the technology would work so we will try it in all regions,” dagdag pa niya.

Kinumpirma ni Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez ang plano subalit ito’y hanggang testing lang sa ngayon.

“Just to manage expectations, we still have to have authority from Congress to actually deploy an online voting system. Right now the authority of Comelec is limited to testing out alternative means of voting,” paliwanag ni Jimenez. (AI/FC/MTVN)
