No tsunami warning was raised as Phivolcs reported a magnitude 7.1 undersea earthquake southeast of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental Thursday evening. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) the quake was of tectonic origin and no damage is expected but aftershocks may occur. Likewise, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center confirmed that no tsunami is expected.

Meanwhile, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) also set the quake at magnitude 7.1 with a depth of 114 kilometers. Its earlier reports were 7.2 and 6.8 magnitudes.
The quake was also felt in several nearby areas at varied intensities: Kiamba, Sarangani (V); Davao City, General Santos City (IV); Bislig City, Surigao del Sur (II). (MTVN)
