QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA — A kidnapped Chinese national was rescued successfully while four of his kidnappers were killed during a hot pursuit operation conducted by a joint team from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Kidnapping Group and the Quezon City Police District Special Operations Unit (QCPD-SOU) in Barangay Holy Spirit.
According to QCPD chief Brigadier General Danilo Macerin, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Group led by Lieutenant Colonel Morgan Aguilar coordinated with the DSOU concerning the kidnapping of Chinese national Zhi Fu, who was forcibly dragged into a black Toyota Vios with plate number XCE 939 at around 10:30 in the evening of January 21, 2021.
The incident was witnessed by Zhi’s companion, who was identified as Li Cheng. Li managed to escape and immediately reported the incident to the AKG headquarters in Camp Crame. Police confirmed the incident was a kidnapping after the kidnappers contacted the family of Zhi to demand 20 million pesos in exchange for his release.
But instead of giving in to the demand, authorities conducted a hot pursuit operation and while using the WeChat location and technical equipment of the PNP-AKG, the team managed to locate the exact location of the suspects with their victim in a safe house at No. 167, Sta. Maria Extension in Bgy. Holy Spirit.
The joint police team immediately went to the said location but while the operatives were approaching the house, the suspects fired their guns which prompted the responding cops to return fire. A brief shootout ensued which resulted in the neutralization of the four suspects while Zhi Fu was safely secured.
Crime Investigation Section (CIS) and Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) investigators recovered from the crime scene were one M-16 Rifle with an inserted magazine loaded with 13 cartridges, another magazine loaded with 18 cartridges, one caliber 45 automatic with inserted magazine, one caliber 9mm pistol with inserted magazine, one caliber 38 revolver, two hand grenades, one unit of a Honda Beat Motorcycle without plate number, the black Toyota Vios used by the kidnappers, two mobile phones, two sachets of shabu, and several fired M-16 cartridges and a fired bullet of still undetermined caliber.
Macerin commended the policemen involved in the encounter for their bravery that resulted in the neutralization of the four kidnappers. He likewise thanked the victim’s companion for reporting the incident immediately to the police.
“Muli, kapag may mga ganitong pangyayari o kahit na ano pang krimen, itawag o ireport ninyo kaagad upang kaagad natin marespondehan sapagkat ang inyong kapulisan ay inyong kakampi at hinding-hindi namin kayo pababayaan. Huwag po kayong matakot magsumbong,” he ended saying. (AI/MTVN)
