Almost 1K chickens missing in Pangasinan poultry farm

VILLASIS, Pangasinan – The Villasis Police Station is eyeing five persons of interest linked to the theft case in a poultry farm at Barangay Lapaz in this town on Sunday.

In an interview on Monday, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office information officer, Maj. Arturo Melchor II, said police officers are gathering information from witnesses.

“The persons of interest are former employees at the farm,” he said, adding they are not yet considered suspects.

Melchor said the farm reported that almost a thousand of its chickens were missing after it was discovered that a gate in one of the chicken housings was opened.

“The chickens’ value amounted to more or less than PHP500,000,” he said.

Melchor said farm workers also saw scattered feathers at the back portion of the housing, which could be the exit route of the culprits.

“The police will also review closed-circuit television camera footages to aid the investigation,” he added. (PNA)
