Posibleng long-term effects ng COVID-19 tinitingnan ng DOH

MANILA – Tinitingnan na ng Department of Health (DOH) ang mga ulat ukol sa posibleng pangmatagalang epekto ng coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), na resulta ng tinatawag na “overdrive” ng immune system.

Ayon kay Dr. Eric Tayag, director ng DOH Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service, may mga kaso na nararanasan pa rin ng isang tao ang epekto ng sakit ilang buwan makalipas magpositibo.

“As we try to review the data that’s available, it’s about the response ng ating immune system. Ang immune system natin, nag-o-overdrive and kung minsan, because of this overdrive, it gives us the complications,” wika ni Tayag.

Ilan sa mga napaulat na long-term effects ng COVID-19 ay pagkapagod, brain fog, depression, muscle pain, ubo at sakit ng ulo.

Sinabi ni Tayag na dapat magpatingin ang mga tao na gumaling sa COVID-19 ngunit nakararanas pa rin ng mga nasabing sintomas.

“Many will assume they have completely recovered and so, therefore, any symptoms months or weeks following their initial bout with COVID-19, they will not relate it to COVID-19. It’s very important that you not dismiss any symptom or illness na hindi related sa COVID-19. It might be, it might be not, but don’t dismiss,” ani Tayag. (AI/FC/MTVN)
