BACOLOD CITY – Total recoveries among coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in Negros Occidental including this city have reached 96 percent as of Feb. 22, separate data released by the city and the provincial governments showed.
Based on the figures released by the Provincial Incident Management Team on Tuesday, some 6,515 have already recovered out of 6,788 confirmed cases, which is equivalent to 95.97 percent.
In Negros Occidental, there are still 58 remaining active cases while 215 deaths have been recorded.
Among the province’s 31 cities and municipalities, 12 have now zero active cases, including Bago City, Binalbagan, Candoni, Cauayan, Hinigaran, Isabela, La Castellana, Manapla, Murcia, Pontevedra, Don Salvador Benedicto, and Valladolid.
Silay City has the most number of active cases, with 10, followed by San Carlos City, 7; and Cadiz City, 6. The rest of the local government units only have below five active cases.
The 6,788 confirmed cases include 1,175 locally stranded individuals; 303 front-liners; 302 overseas Filipino workers; 102 authorized persons outside residence; 15 pending classification; and two listed in other provinces but tagged in Negros Occidental.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier said the provincial government aims to vaccinate some 1.5 million Negrenses, which is 70 percent of the province’s population.
In this capital, a total of 5,566 have already recovered of the 5,813 confirmed cases, which represents 95.75 percent.
Data also showed that the city still has 61 active cases, and 188 recorded deaths.
Bacolod is targeting to inoculate some 80 percent, or 491,198 individuals out of its 613,997 projected population in 2020. (PNA)
