MANILA – The Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark has seized two plastic packs of shabu with an estimated value of PHP6.8-million concealed inside an air fryer from Sha Alam, Malaysia.
In a statement, District Collector Ruby Alameda said the shipment, which arrived on Feb. 16, was declared as “air fryer, silkware”.
It was profiled for physical examination and then subjected to an X-ray which revealed images of organic substances inside the lid of the air fryer.
A Customs examiner opened the lid and found the shabu weighing 1,000 grams.
Alameda issued a warrant of seizure and detention against the consignee for violations of Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Narcotics operatives conducted a controlled delivery operation which led to the arrest of the suspect, who was not identified, in Cebu City. (PNA)
