SANTIAGO City, Isabela – One of the patrol cars of the Santiago City Police, a White Toyota Hilux (A40823), was involved in an accident after its left front tire blew up.
The driver then lost its maneuverability and the ill-fated patrol car ran through three other vehicles after crashing into a concrete fence in Purok 4 Villa Ceferina Subdivision, Barangay Sinsayon in Santiago City, Isabela on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at around 4:30 p.m.
The accident resulted in the death of a policewoman while four other lady cops were injured.
According to Police Corporal Bienvinido Seredio, assigned investigator-on-case, the victims were on their way to provide road security for a “Very Important Person” in the town of Cordon when the accident occurred.
He said that the police vehicle encroached the opposite lane as the driver lost control of the steering wheel.
The vehicle then overturned more than five times before crashing into the concrete fence of Villa Ceferenina.
“One of the passengers fell on the pavement and was run over by the patrol car, killing her on the spot.”
Seredio identified the casualty as Police Patrolwoman Archelle Duldulao and the injured as Police Corporal Berna Austria, Police Patrolwoman Pauline Carlos, Police Corporal Kacelyn Tarayao, and Police Patrolwoman Riza Mae Laureta, who were all assigned to the Santiago City Police Station in Isabela.
The accident involved other vehicles including a tricycle driven by John Eduard Molina from Cordon, a motorcycle driven by Ivan Sal from Turod Sur and a brown Isuzu MUX SUV drove by Liza Santos-Pua from Alicia.
The passenger of the motorcycle was reported to have survived and only contracted minor injuries. (AI/MTVN)
