BOAC, Marinduque – The Department of Health (DOH) – MIMAROPA (Oriental/Occidental Mindoro. Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) together with the provincial government of Marinduque led the groundbreaking of the Marinduque Molecular Laboratory for Covid-19 on February 22, 2021.
According to DOH Marinduque Provincial Health Team Officer, Dr. Rachel Rowena Garcia, in a phone interview, once the facility is operational, it will hasten the examination and testing of specimens from individuals.
“Madali nating malalaman kung ang isang tao ay positive o negative sa Covid-19. At ang laboratory na ito ay magagamit din natin hindi lang sa testing ng Covid kundi pati na rin sa ibang virus na maaaring umatake sa ating komunidad,” she emphasized.
“We are grateful for the Ayala Foundation for providing us this facility.”
Garcia added that the DOH regional office also provided the GeneXpert machine which will be used for the Reverse Transcription – Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) Test for Covid-19.
The construction of the Marinduque Molecular Laboratory is worth P6.9M. The facility will be constructed inside the Dr. Damian J. Reyes Memorial Hospital in Boac, Marinduque.
The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by staff of DOH-Marinqudue and members the local government of the province. (AI/MTVN)
