MANILA — The prestigious Gawad Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw (Gawad TANGLAW) has bestowed internationally-known poet and journalist Edwin M. Cordevilla the “Best Newspaper Column/Opinion” award for his column MASAlamin in the country’s only daily business tabloid Pilipino Mirror.
Overwhelmed by such honor, Cordevilla, who is also the Secretary-General of Filipino League of Advocates for Good Governance-Maharlika (FLAG-MAHARLIKA), praised God, first and foremost, and described Gawad TANGLAW’s recognition as a sort of heroism as it continues to serve as a watchdog for quality writing and reportage amid the pandemic.
“Sa patuloy nilang pagsusuri at pagbabantay sa kalidad ng panulat, pag-uulat at paggawa sa larangan ng pamamahayag at sining sa gitna man ng pandemya. Isa po itong kabayanihan,” Cordevilla said.
The Pilipino Mirror was also accorded the Jury Award for Excellence in Print and Development Communication on the 18th Gawad TANGLAW Awards 2020, the highest honor being bestowed on print media.
Cordevilla also congratulated their publisher Edgard A Cabangon, editor-in-chief Rey Briones, and the Management Committee (ManComm) officers General Manager PM Joy LS Joy Siddayao, Marvin Nisperos Estigoy, HR Jo Eurolfan, managers Dante Castro and Erlinda Villar, managing editor Susan Cambri, associate editor Ana Fed Federigan, coordinator Dante Paule Maglaqui, advertising manager Cris Galit, audit team and others in the staff of Pilipino Mirror.
