MANILA — The Department of Health submitted another record-breaking single-day number of Covid-19 infections on Saturday, 20 March 2021.
Hardly had the dust settled for the record-setting 7,000+ cases on Friday, the DOH logged on Saturday a total of 7,999 coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections in a single day, a new record.
That number raised the country’s accumulated total 656,056.
Of this number, 80,642 are active.
Alarming as it might seem but a whiff of the good news of the record-high number of active cases is, 98 percent are mild, moderate or asymptomatic while the rest are severe or critical.
There are a total of 562,484 recoveries, including 597 new survivors.
Thirty more individuals have been added to the death toll that now totals 12,930.
The country ranks 30th across the globe in terms of the total number of Covid-19 cases, according to Johns Hopkins University. (AI/MTVN)
