MANILA — The 12-year search for the killers of a father and his son in Pasay City ended in Bicol on March 20 with the arrest of a former cop Pastor and his son Brentboris Ricafrancas, tagged as prime suspects in the 2008 double murder over a neighbors’ quarrel.
PNP Officer-in-Charge, Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Lorenzo T Eleazar said the 74 Ricafranca and his 47-year-old son were arrested by operatives of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group at 6:30 PM in Brgy. Sta. Clara and Brgy San Pascual, Buhi, Cam Sur.
Citing reports of AKG Director, PBGEN Jonel Estomo, Eleazar said that suspects were arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Eugenio G Dela Cruz, Presiding Judge of RTC National Capital Region Branch 117 of Pasay City on March 27, 2009 for the crime of murder with aggravating circumstances under Crim. Case No. R-PSY-08-08130 CR with no bail recommended.
Court records showed that the Ricafrancas are suspects in the murder of Ernesto Marcelo Sr. and his son Ernesto Marcelo Jr. on August 17, 2008 in Pasay City due to a family feud.
Suspects escaped and went into hiding until their arrest.
OIC Eleazar disclosed that the operation stemmed from the information received by IRAD on February 15, 2021, from a police informant that two suspects have a standing warrant for the crime of Murder. Acting on the said information, IRAD operatives immediately conducted relatives of the suspects to determine their possible whereabouts.
IRAD subsequently coordinated with Pasay City Regional Trial Court where they get confirmation about the standing warrant. Through social media, it was discovered that relatives of the suspects were in Camarines Sur. Immediately IRAD-AKG operatives were dispatched to conduct series of casing and surveillance in Cam Sur to locate the whereabouts of the suspects. (AI/MTVN)
