MANILA – After 12 years evading arrest, a former police officer and his father who were among the most wanted persons in Pasay City were arrested in Camarines Sur, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday.
Citing a report from PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) Director, Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, the suspects were identified as former PO1 Brentboris Ricafrancas, 47, and his 74-year-old father, Pastor.
They were arrested on Saturday, at around 6:30 p.m., in Buhi town.
PNP Officer-in-Charge, Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, said the suspects were arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Eugenio Dela Cruz of the Pasay Regional Trial Court Branch 117 on March 27, 2009. No bail was recommended.
Court records showed the Ricafrancas are suspects in the murder of father and son, Ernesto Marcelo, Sr. and Ernesto Marcelo, Jr. on August 17, 2008 in Pasay City, arising from a family feud.
The suspects immediately went into hiding after the crime.
The police received information on February 15, 2021 about the suspects’ whereabouts.
AKG operatives first conducted a social media investigation of relatives’ accounts and coordinated with the Pasay City court. (PNA)
