MANILA — Saying she could no longer cope with constant sexual abuse, a former elementary student yielded to the members of the 61st Infantry “Hunter” Battalion of the Philippine Army in Iloilo.
“Ka Nene,” not her real name, admitted that she experienced sexual abuse at the hands of a New People’s Army (NPA) leader as well as other young women in their temporary camp in the Miagao mountains.
Major General Eric C. Vinoya, the Commander of the 3rd Infantry “Spearhead” Division, acknowledged that he surrendered under the alias “Ka Nene.”
“Ka Nene” narrated that the abuse of their leader and their male comrades on nine other minors resulted into what their situation now, being pregnant.
Vinoya praised the courage of “Ka Nene” in revealing the ordeal of female minors who have been victimized and deceived by the CPP-NPA.
Vinoya, on the other hand, challenged the alleged defenders of the youth and women groups Anakbayan and Gabriela to break their silence on the NPA’s insult to their female members. (AI/MTVN)
