MANILA – Authorities arrested a notorious drug courier and seized some PHP13.6 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Laguna.
Citing reports from the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG), PNP officer in charge Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar identified the suspect as Edzarfeel Sakilan, who was arrested inside the St. Joseph Village, San Pedro, Laguna on Tuesday night.
Sakilan yielded around two kilograms of shabu, buy-bust money, one Honda City bearing plate number AEA 9728, and one cellular phone.
Initial investigation showed that the suspect operates in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and in some parts of Mindanao.
Sakilan is an alleged accomplice of Michael Romualdez, a supplier of illegal drugs who was earlier arrested in Imus City, Cavite. Their supply comes from a certain Chinese national who contacted them using an international number based in Hong Kong.
Sakilan and Romualdez are allegedly members of an illegal drug syndicate composed of Filipino-Muslim and Chinese nationals.
According to Eleazar, their illegal drug transaction was discovered when one of the personnel of PDEG entered the drug syndicate through the confidential informant.
During the monitoring and surveillance of the operating teams, it was disclosed that they have been using different vehicles whenever they have an illegal drug transaction.
The suspect will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“Our operatives in coordination with PDEA are working to intensify our anti-illegal drugs operations nationwide,” Eleazar added. (PNA)
