COTABATO CITY – A surprise inspection for shabu and drug paraphernalia at the Marawi City Jail in Lanao del Sur province has turned out negative, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) reported on Wednesday.
PDEA-BARMM Director Juvenal Azurin added that the “Operation Greyhound” conducted in the jail facility with the help of their K-9 Unit also yielded no deadly weapons among inmates.
“A drug test conducted on the jail’s 25 personnel and 16 inmates also yielded negative results for drug use,” Azurin told reporters here in an interview.
No contrabands were found in the facility, he added.
“This is a good indication that the Marawi City jail officers are doing their best to keep the facility clean from drugs,” Azurin said.
Without giving more details, he said surprise inspections would be conducted in other jail facilities in the region. (PNA)
