MANILA — The Health Facilities and Services Regulatory Bureau of the Department of Health has granted a License to Operate to the PNP Regional Health Service-7 Molecular Laboratory in Cebu City to conduct COVID-19 testing.
DOH franchise gives official authority to the PNP-RHS7 for Reverse Transcription- Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing to detect COVID-19 cases.
By authority of the Secretary of Health, Atty. Nicolas B Lutero III, Director IV of DOH-HFSRB issued License To Operate No. 07-0017-2021-CT-2 to PNP-RHS7 on March 12, 2021, with validity until December 31, 2021.
On March 16, 2021, DOH gave the PNP-RHS7 Molecular Laboratory a clearance to operate after finalizing the necessary permits and the training of the PNP medical personnel who will operate the facility,” PNP Officer-In-Charge, Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said.
“The PNP assures a full support system to the health safety and medical needs of policemen, especially those who are deployed as front-liners in implementing government measures to protect the public from coronavirus infection,” he said.
“This latest addition to the PNP technical capacity for early detection of COVID-19 among its personnel supports the DOH program of aggressive testing as part of the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Eleazar added.
Eleazar said the new facility, located in Camp Sotero Cabahug along Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City, will accommodate RT-PCR tests for PNP personnel from Police Regional Offices in Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.
The new facility in Cebu City has a capacity to accommodate 60-80 Manual, and 120-180 Automated Covid-19 tests daily, Eleazar said.
Aside from the new RT-PCR Laboratory in Cebu City, currently operational are two molecular laboratories in Camp Crame with a combined capacity of 420 tests per day, and another two molecular laboratories in Davao City with a combined daily testing capacity of 320, serving the PNP Units in the six regions of Mindanao.
