Leaving a Legacy by C. de los Angeles
Wikipedia discusses it as:
“Black propaganda is a form of propaganda intended to create the impression that it was created by those it is supposed to discredit. It is typically used to vilify or embarrass the enemy through misrepresentation.
The major characteristic of black propaganda is that the audience are not aware that someone is influencing them, and do not feel that they are being pushed in a certain direction. Black propaganda purports to emanate from a source other than the true source. Sometimes the source is concealed or credited to a false authority and spreads lies, fabrications, and deceptions.”
Recently, failed presidential contender, former award winning news anchor and now DDS evangelist falsely claimed that Senator Manny Pacquiao was prematurely campaigning and showed a badly edited poster which he or his cohorts purportedly installed to attribute to the good Senator from Saranggani.
Normally, I would not bother with these kind of things but I felt this could be a moment to educate people on what goes on behind the scenes.
First off, to set the record straight this is not even a good job in terms of black propaganda as it is wrong in so many levels.
Let me explain, as mentioned earlier the goal of black propaganda is to deceive the people and to attribute it to another person or camp as the true source. An example of this was during my fathers campaign, there were three political factions during the campaign lets call them Camp C and Camp B. What Camp B did was to float the rumor using one of Camp C’s people that my father was giving away millions of pesos. To our surprise there was a line of people outside our home waiting for the money. We had thought it came from Camp C but many years later through one of the campaign strategists of Camp B he admitted it was their camp all along.
That is the proper way to do it and I commend Camp B; this is also why till today they remain the political powerhouse in their city.
In the case of Jay Sonza’s pitiful attempt to sully or besmirch the reputation of the good senator, there were so many tell tale signs.
First, the graphic was pixelized meaning the photo was grabbed from the internet or some poor source.
Second, the location was in Davao which is the homeland of our dear President Duterte and possible contenders for the Presidency Sara Duterte and Bong Go.
Third, the billboard does not follow the format and layout of Sen. Manny Pacquiao’s normal signages.
Fourth, the messenger, in this case, Jay Sonza, was a party affiliate of Mayor Sara Duterte, HNP as a well as a paid DDS evangelist who continues to trumpet the many good works of this administration.
Fifth, it is a case of diversion while the country is fed the Run, Sara, Run campaign materials and Senator Bong Go goes on a nationwide caravan at the expense of the government they (DDS and the like) use this as an example for premature campaigning against the good Senator Pacquiao to divert the attention of their actions.
However, our countrymen saw through these fabricated lies and instead believed Sara Duterte and Senator Bong Go are premature campaigning. So much so that the government bloggers had to go forth and explain to the pubic the legalities of Premature Campaigning. Which under the law until you file your candidacy you can not be accused of premature campaigning, Thank you Atty. Trixie for your explanation in your blog.
If this was to be a successful attempt at black propaganda to accuse the good senator of premature campaigning they should have followed the campaign materials more closely, launched it in a neutral area not identified as a Duterte stronghold, sought an innocent third party without obvious political inclinations to raise the issue and lastly I would not do it at the same time as your own candidates version of premature campaigning. This would have been more successful at projecting premature campaigning against the good Senator Manny even though as Atty Trixie mentioned it is not illegal.
However, thankfully whoever planned it from their camp lacked the necessary brain power to properly and effectively execute it. Furthermore, the love and support our living national treasure, the good Senator Manny Pacquiao receives across the political divide and across the country it would be risky for them to not do it in their controlled areas and parroted by their paid loyal evangelists like Jay Sonza.
Stay tuned for more attempts at black propaganda and I will be more than willing to expound the intricacies of the political campaign as the campaign approaches.
