MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) commended their 9,356 personnel in manning the 1,106 quarantine control points or checkpoints inside the NCR Plus Bubble or in Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite and Bulacan during the first day of the reimposition of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
According to Joint Task Force Covid Shield Commander and PNP Deputy Chief for Operations, Lt. Gen. Cesar Hawthorne Binag, those cops were briefed thoroughly before they were deployed.
This includes filtering their emotions when they encounter naughty and how to deal with them peacefully.
However, Binag said that such road operations are not new because they have been doing that for a long time, especially since the checkpoint was set up when the pandemic started last year.
The police general said that one of their concerns in manning the QCPs is the strict implementation of 50 percent seating capacity in public vehicles.
On the first day, Binag himself caught a vehicle full of passengers in Tunasan, Muntinlupa and because they were able to show the essential ID, they were allowed to continue their travel as not to be interrupted in their work but clarified that it should not be repeated.
Binag, along with other PNP officers inspected the boundary of Muntinlupa City and San Pedro, Laguna yesterday morning. (AI/MTVN)
