MANILA – Maintenance and rehabilitation works at the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) are in full swing during the first day of its annual Holy Week shutdown.
In a Facebook advisory Tuesday, the MRT-3 management said among the works include the replacement of turnouts, installation of point machines and new insulation sleeves of the overhead catenary system.
“Mula ngayong araw hanggang ika-4 ng Abril 2021 ay magpapatuloy ang pagsasaayos ng mga turnout sa buong linya (Starting today until April 4, 2021, there will be a continuous repair of the turnouts in the entire rail line),” the MRT-3 said.
Light rail vehicles will continue to undergo exterior cleaning and overhauling.
These activities are done by personnel of Sumitomo, the rail line’s repair and maintenance provider.
MRT-3 operations will resume on April 5.
As the MRT-3 remains closed, the public may take the public utility buses running along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue. (PNA)
