CAGAYAN DE ORO – A three-month-old Shih Tzu Terrier dog named “Pochi” has been named as the official Bureau of Customs mascot of Collection District 10 in Northern Mindanao.
A mascot is any human, animal, or object used to represent a group in their advocacy and identity in this case “Pochi” will now be the face of Collection District 10 as it continues to fulfill its mandate.
Clad in Bureau of Customs jersey uniform, “Pochi” will now be a constant guard dog in the premises of Bureau of Customs District Office in Brgy. Macabalan. “Pochi” will greet stakeholders with his adorable aura as they visit the office.
Shih Tzus are known to be affectionate, happy, and outgoing house dogs who love to be a companion to their people and follows them anywhere. Since ancient times they have been known to be comfortable with humans from all walks of life.
Chief Collector John Simon of Collection District 10 approved the appointment of “Pochi” as its official mascot hoping to bring a positive outlook not just for employees but for stakeholders of the bureau as well especially during this time of pandemic.
The characteristic of the dog is also worthy to emulate as workers of the Bureau of Customs which is to attentively guard port of entries in the country from smuggled goods to collect lawful revenues for the country.
So, if you happen to pass by the district office of the Bureau of Customs in Cagayan de Oro do not miss the chance to meet “Pochi” the friendly customs guard dog.
