ZAMBOANGA CITY – Zamboanga-bound passengers affected by the flight cancellation do not have to worry about rebooking charges as well as expenses for the swab test.
Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer and the chief implementer of the local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) said Thursday the city government will shoulder the expenses for the re-swab test of passengers upon arrival in this city, as soon as the suspension of in-bound flights are lifted.
Apolinario said these agreements were reached during a meeting on Monday of the local IATF and representatives from the different airline companies.
Included in the no booking charges and free re-swab are those passengers affected by the flight suspension that took effect March 29 and whose swab test results will expire April 1.
The local IATF has suspended all in-bound commercial flights from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) effective March 29 until further notice.
The suspension came amid the re-imposition of enhanced community quarantine in the National Capital Region (NCR) and neighboring provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal due to the surge of Covid-19 cases.
The local IATF said that also suspended are the connecting flights from Cebu or Davao whose flights origin are from NAIA, with passenger en-route to this city.
However, the task force said the hybrid (cargo) flights and outbound passengers as well as direct flights from Cebu or Davao to this city are not included in the suspension of travel. (PNA)
