MANILA — While most were celebrating Easter Sunday in traditional activities in their respective homes amidst the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) lockdown, operatives from the Quezon City Police District’s Fairview Police Station (PS 5) were able to arrest a live-in couple and their two accomplices in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Gulod in Fairview, Quezon City.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brigadier General Danilo Macerin identified the suspects as live-in partners Glen Suratos, 41, of No. 1 San Nicasio Street in Bgy. Gulod, and Lucy Mateo, 41, of No. 1 San Nicasio St., of the same Bgy.

They were apprehended with cohorts Jay Jay Lopez, 36, also of San Nicasio St., and Jose Jamito, 36, of St. Dominic Homes, Las Piñas City.
Initial reports show that a buy-bust operation was organized by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of PS 5 after a confidential informant reported to the authorities about their illegal drug peddling activities, particularly in their barangay.

A police operative posed as a buyer and bought P5,000.00 worth of shabu from the suspects at the residence of Mateo at around 4 a.m. of April 4 and at the given pre-arranged signal, they were quickly arrested.

Aside from the buy-bust money and a cellular phone used in the drug transaction, the arresting policemen confiscated from the suspects 15 grams of shabu in eight sachets and valued at P102,000.

Prior to the couple’s arrest, six other drug suspects were also nabbed by other personnel of the QCPD.

Anti-narcotics cops from the Talipapa Police Station (PS 3) under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Cristine Tabdi arrested in a buy-bust operation Marcelino Binuya, 50, of No. 14 Branches St., Bgy. Sangandaan, at about 8:45 p.m. of April 3, 2021, near the suspects’ residence at the corner of Branches and Legal streets.

Meanwhile, five other drug suspects were also nabbed by anti-drug units from the Galas Police Station (PS 11) under the command of Lt. Col. Elizabeth Jasmin and Holy Spirit Police Station (PS 14) under Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bilarotook.
