BUTUAN CITY – Six passengers of a distressed sea vessel were rescued off the coast of Surigao City on Sunday afternoon, the Philippine Coast Guard reported.
The PCG Station in Surigao del Norte reported Monday that the MBCA Princess Iana Jane was “submerged when battered by huge waves” off the coast of Basul Island at around 4:15 p.m.
Upon reaching the area, PCG personnel saw that the passengers, who were all safe, were rescued by a passing sea vessel identified as MBCA Leo.
“The PCG Team escorted the MBCA Leo while another towed the MBCA Princess Iana Jane towards the shoreline of Punta Bilang-Bilang Basin in Barangay Taft, Surigao City,” the PCG said.
The passengers who were en route to Barangay Danawan were identified as Aljun Ching, 29; Michael Balili, 39; Jitter Segarra, 23; Louie Jay Segarra, 22; Angelou Cawaling, 20; and Johnmike Balili, 16. (PNA)
