Ramadhan, one of the five pillars of Islam, is a month of blessing where able-bodied Muslims worldwide abstain from all food or drink, including water, from dawn to sunset.
The predawn meal is referred to as “suhur”, and the nightly feast that breaks the fast is called “iftar.”
Muslims fast for 30 days and do more praying and acts of charity, striving to improve their self-discipline and sacrifice. (PNA)
