LEGAZPI CITY – With the high number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the country that has prompted the reimposition of strict quarantine rules, the Department of Agriculture (DA) regional office for Bicol on Monday reminded the public, particularly the vehicle owners, on the guidelines for using the agency’s food pass and warned against its wrongful use.
Rodel Tornilla, DA-Bicol regional executive director, in a statement said their office issued an advisory reiterating the guidelines, noting that there have been cases of violations of the policy. He said food pass issued by their office should strictly be used only in the transport of essential food commodities, agri-fishery products, and inputs.
“Only a driver and two helpers who are Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) are allowed onboard the vehicles,” the advisory said.
Tornilla said that drivers who will convey or transport locally stranded individuals (LSI) or any other unauthorized persons shall be dealt with accordingly, including the operator of the vehicle, and the vehicle’s food pass shall be revoked.
“Previously issued food passes are still valid and therefore, there is no need for renewal of the same,” he added. (PNA)
