MANILA – The Department of Justice (DOJ) will remain operational to receive pleadings and other filings from litigants and will be lenient with deadlines during the extended period of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) this week.
DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Monday they will maintain a skeleton staff for frontline services but online filing is encouraged.
“We’ll be very lenient with deadlines. We continue to receive papers. They may also opt for e-filing. The party just needs to file the appropriate motions,” he told newsmen.
The Supreme Court also said in a statement that alongside the ECQ extension, the filing periods of pleadings and other court submissions within March 29 to April 11, 2021 are extended for seven calendar days, counted from April 12.
The quarantine that would have lapsed Sunday has been extended until April 11. (PNA)
