TUGUEGARAO City, Cagayan – The Cagayan Provincial Veterinary Office (PVAO) today disclosed that three (3) more towns in the province have been affected by the African Swine Fever or ASF.
Among the newly affected municipalities are Gonzaga, Enrile at Camalaniugan.
According to Acting Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Noli V. Buen, cases of ASF has increased from January 1, 2021, to March 31, 2021, from a total of 4,134 affected hogs.
He added that a total of 1,117 hog raisers from the 49 barangays of the 14 towns have been greatly affected by the recent epidemic in livestock.
From January to February, this year, there were only 11 towns affected by ASF, namely Alcala, Allacapan, Aparri, Amulung, Baggao, Buguey, Iguig, Lal-lo, Solana, Sto. Nino at Sta. Ana.
“Patuloy pa rin ang Provincial Government of Cagayan (PGC) sa pagbibigay ng financial assistance sa mga apektadong hog raisers. At tulad ng dati ay tatlo sa mga apektadong mga baboy lamang ang babayaran ng PGC sa halagang P3,000 kada isang baboy.”
“Ang financial assistance na naipamahagi na ng PGC mula sa 1st at 2nd wave ay nasa P5,988,000 milyon na,” Buen said.
The PVAO has already disposed of a total of 7,883 hogs in the province since the start of ASF infection last November 2019. (AI/MTVN)
