TUGUEGARAO City, Cagayan – The Cagayan Provincial Veterinary Office (PVAO) today disclosed that three (3) more towns in the province have been affected by the African Swine Fever or ASF.

Among the newly affected municipalities are Gonzaga, Enrile at Camalaniugan.

According to Acting Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Noli V. Buen, cases of ASF has increased from January 1, 2021, to March 31, 2021, from a total of 4,134 affected hogs.

He added that a total of 1,117 hog raisers from the 49 barangays of the 14 towns have been greatly affected by the recent epidemic in livestock.

From January to February, this year, there were only 11 towns affected by ASF, namely Alcala, Allacapan, Aparri, Amulung, Baggao, Buguey, Iguig, Lal-lo, Solana, Sto. Nino at Sta. Ana.

The PVAO has already disposed of a total of 7,883 hogs in the province since the start of ASF infection last November 2019. (AI/MTVN)
