MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Tuesday reported the seizure of various illegal drugs worth over PHP3 million in air parcels at different warehouses in Pasay City.
In a statement, the bureau said it has discovered 1,681 tablets of ecstasy worth PHP2.86 million concealed inside a microwave oven and 133 grams of kush or high-grade marijuana worth over PHP159,000 inside a metal toy box.
Records showed the seized ecstasy was shipped from the Netherlands and consigned to a recipient in Quezon City while the intercepted kush was from the United States USA and is consigned to a certain individual in Pasay City.
Both parcels were turned over to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for case profiling and build up for possible violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165) in relation to Section 119 (Restricted Importation) and Section1401 (Unlawful Importation) of Republic Act 10863 otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
The seizure of the illegal drugs was headed by Port’s Anti-illegal Drugs Task Force (CAIDTF), in coordination with PDEA, and NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG).
Port District Collector Carmelita Talusan vowed to continue to be vigilant against different kind of modes of concealment of illegal drugs through enhanced and improved profiling techniques. (PNA)
