MANILA – The Diocese of Novaliches is ready to provide pray over sessions and counseling to people that have contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Fr. Luciano Felloni, head of the diocese’s Communications Ministry, said the initiative called “E-Pray for Covid-19 Patients” aims to help patients through prayers and give them spiritual advice.
”There are many people who need prayers since we’re not allowed to go to hospitals and isolation center. We thought of organizing a hotline where they can call for pray over and a priest will call back to the patient either by phone or messenger,” he said in an interview over church-run Radio Veritas on Tuesday.
Felloni, also parish priest of the Kristong Hari Parish in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, said through E-Pray, Catholic priests can listen to the sick and pray for them using modern communication methods.
To date, 35 priests and a bishop have volunteered to join the project.
“These are nationwide, one from New York and we have priest in Tarlac, Pampanga, Negros, Bicol and in Metro Manila in different diocese and congregation. These priests are ready to listen and pray for those who will call or message us on Messenger,” Felloni said.
He said people can just leave their contact number and a priest will coordinate with them to arrange a pray over session for a patient.
For those who would like to receive a pray over, they can message the E-Pray DioNova Facebook page or send a text message through 0995 041-7199. They must indicate their name, contact number and messenger of the patient.
The Diocese of Novaliches in Quezon City is among dioceses located in the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus area which is under the enhanced community quarantine until April 11.
The NCR Plus is composed of Metro Manila and the neighboring provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal. (PNA)
