Legazpi locks down more offices due to Covid cases

LEGAZPI CITY – A bank, a regional government agency, a public high school, and the Sangguniang Panlungsod office here were ordered closed on Friday and Saturday after one Covid-19 case each.

Locked down were the second floor of a Landbank branch, Department of Science and Technology-Bicol, Legazpi Science High School and the City Council session hall, Mayor Noel Rosal said.

“We have to immediately take action. We cannot take chances. Take note that our Covid-19 cases have increased significantly in the past days,” he said in an interview.

Previously, Rosal ordered the closure of a PhilHealth sub-office inside the Landco Business Park, a Banco De Oro branch inside SM Legazpi City, and the Lucky Fortune Restaurant, also inside SM City.

The Bicol Region has 1,115 active cases as of Friday. Among the 83 new infections that day, Legazpi accounted for 8 for a total of 83 active cases.

The region also tallied 17 recoveries to raise its overall tally to 5,042.
