MANILA — The Philippines’ list of active cases of Covid-19 soared to a new record of 203,710 as the Department of Health logged 11,101 additional cases of the virus on Saturday, 17 April 2021.
PH’s positive case on Saturday (11,101) pushed the country’s COVID-19 caseload to 926,052 including 706,532 recoveries and 15,810 fatalities.
Recoveries for the day reached 799 while the number of patients who succumbed to the killer disease was listed at 72.
In another development, Vice President Leni Robredo is accordingly now in quarantine after her close-in security tested positive for the coronavirus.
Over at the Ateneo de Manila University, the school’s isolation wards have started accepting COVID-19 patients, according to the Philippine Red Cross.
Amid the surge in Covid cases, the bed capacity in hospitals in Metro Manila stays at a critical level due the DOH said.
