LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office in Bicol Region (PRO-5) has deployed personnel as response teams in local government units (LGUs) that are anticipated to be affected by Typhoon Bising.
Brig. Gen. Bartolome Bustamante, PRO-5 regional director, in a statement on Sunday said he instructed all Police Provincial Offices and City Police Offices to take precautionary measures in coordination with their respective LGUs, and be prepared for the possible evacuation of residents near the coastal and low-lying areas.
Preparations by PRO-5 include the activation of disaster response teams that are expected to conduct search and rescue operations, conduct traffic direction and control in areas affected by the typhoon, and to facilitate continuous liaising with local disaster risk reduction and management offices (DRRMOs)/provincial DRRMOs and other concerned cluster members until the typhoon moves outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
All trips of provincial buses, private cars, and trucks from Bicol bound for Visayas and Mindanao were also cancelled since Friday. Likewise, air and sea travels were temporarily suspended.
The PNP, along with its other cluster members, reminded the public to remain alert and safe and to heed the orders of the authorities especially with regard the preventive actions that may be enforced to avoid loss of lives and properties. (PNA)
