Sunshine Dizon moving to ABS-CBN; contract no longer renewed by GMA-7

MANILA—Now it is already out that Sunshine Dizon is one of the two Kapuso stars who was the subject of blind items  who is moving to the Kapamilya network. It was learned that the actress attended the story conference of the new drama series led by Paulo Avelino and Janine Gutierrez.

Now, it is confirmed that Sunshine is leaving GMA7 after 25 years.

It came as a surprise for some of her fans on how could Sunshine do the transfer while she has been properly taken care by her home network.

She has been given new projects and the feedbacks about those have been good. Some of us have gotten used to seeing her on GMA7 since she started in showbiz as a child actress.

But according to sources, GMA-7 did not renew her contract, therefore, she is now free to accept projects from other agencies. It was not disclosed if Sunshine did sign an exclusive contract with Kapamilya network.

Her manager Perry Lansigan has not yet commented as of presstime. We could only wait for Sunshine’s statement on her transfer.

It would be a reunion of former Kapuso and now Kapamilya artists — Janine Gutierrez, Paulo Avelino with Sunshine Dizon. Janine and Paulo became known for their good performances since they left the network where they started.

One of the reasons they transfer is career move. Moving forward, not backward. And definitely not standing or sitting still.

There are many tradeoffs and adjustments in every transfer particulary now that ABS-CBN is shut down and no franchise.

So while it may not be an entirely financial reason, what could have been the move of some of the Kapuso artists now Kapamilya—Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, Toni Gonzaga, Iza Calzado and Regine Velasquez?

It is a hundred percent sure how grateful they are to the Kapuso network for starting them up. But maybe, just like any growing child, they felt the need to grow in another environment.

For Sunshine, we can just wish her all the best! (ECD/MTVN)
